swift justice.

i can see how this guy would do this considering i've become addicted to monster black ice slurpees at 7-eleven. don't try one...unless you like crack. and caffiene.
clicky.

"more than basketball"...

don't ask me why the tv was on fox 12 tonight (it may have something to do with the weather...person), but i guess i was in the mood for flashy graphics and over-the-top sportscenter-type news tonight. in place of the usual meth watch segment or extension of an episode of cops was this doozy.
the national gay basketball association (yeah, it exists) is protesting nike's new basketball shoe campaign. the most "offensive, homophobic" ad of this series:

dear gay community (or the part of the gay community that would actually acknowledge this because they really don't have anything better to do),

pick your fights more carefully. move along.

sincerely,
a concerned citizen

stan the man.

stan the man, courtesy of joeposnanski.com
growing up in nebraska without a homegrown professional team of my own to root for has always been something that upsets me. yeah, we have the cornhuskers and for the most part they've been good to me. but i love baseball just as much as football, so heading to saint louis for college has been a gift. and that may all start with stan musial. it takes someone special to remind me of my grandfather. i bet stan and him would've kicked it like chuck norris.
thanks for the link, matt. it was indeed a good read.
buy 'em up...he ain't gonna be around much longer.

alaska dreams...

last night at work.
i'm pretty much packed.
most purchases made. sans a spare spool for the 8wt.
however, i'll probably buy another $500 worth of flies from now until tuesday. forecast calls for rain with a chance of rain.
i'm not ashamed to admit i purchased approximately $100 in meat sticks of various flavors. i am ashamed to admit, however, i also purchased enough metamucil to supply an entire geriatric floor. maybe that should be the other way around?

yeah, i work with kids...

so what? this is funny.

movie clip of the week.

5:28am. one more night of work before vaka. in this clip, i can't decide if i'm brad pitt's character or bruno's? maybe both? tick, tock, tick, tock...time to escape.

it was good...

i don't have much more to say about 'the dark knight'. ledger nailed it. he reminds me a lot of myself. i saw it about four hours ago and, right now, can't think of anything negative to say...except why does batman have to talk like he's got really bad strep throat or some sort of thyroid condition? if it's an identity thing, i would think wayne enterprises could come up with some kind of voice alteration device integrated into the bat suit? anywho, nice work, folks. and kudos on the casting for the joker in the next movie...JACK-O! can't wait.

a website you need to know...

let's say you were cravin' some dr. bruce banner? or some colt seavers, the unknown stuntman that made eastwood look so fine? or perhaps some heather locklear season one TJ hooker style? well, check out
hulu.com. it's worth its weight in free cyberspace gold...even if you're only watching every awesome episode of 'it's always sunny in philadelphia', which you are.
there's a pretty good chunk of movies, too. fantastic.

window signs...

i mostly see support for obama and such. i'm sticking with the second amendment.

*take note neighborhood bad guys

only in portland...

what's worse than joe buck telling us that this is the last year for yankee stadium for the 409th time tonight during the all star game?
what's worse than guitar hero?
how about this...and i've commented on this before...bikes and cars don't mix. and only in portland, folks. there are too many crazy people out there...it ain't worth it. this guy should be dead.

movie clip of the week...

it's lame that all i can come up with for blag entries is this shit. but i've been busy doing nothing. working, hitting the driving range, not fishing, waiting until vacation...at least this is a good one, you verbal kint pretzel boy.

movie clip of the week...

the parallels between this movie scene, my job, working night shift, the fucking screaming neighbor kids in their shiny new $75, above-the-ground, inflatable, piece of shit swimming pool, and the fact that i just bought a springfield arms XD .45 ACP for alaska are quite obvious...to me.
i don't care if it's summer...either shut the kids up or shut the dog up...i'm willing to compromise.

aw...hell no.

lately i've been leaning on the jedi for movie reviews.
lately i've realized this isn't sufficient.
APPARENTLY, having a child tends to limit your ability to leave the house and see the latest. instead relying on that married couple crutch (purely speculation have you, since i haven't spoken to either the jedi, the julie, or the baby...well, i haven't yet even seen the baby...my fault, guys) better known as netflix. now, i'm not a netflix hater. but i cancelled my subscription right after 'nam. no, pletsch, not because i completely rented thru the entire science fiction genre and not because i successfully conquered every movie featuring jon cusack and/or keanu reeves, BUT because i wasn't leaving the house. ever. except to reload on chips and salsa, corona, and ez cheez.
anyway, i'm off point.
the jedi hasn't gotten to these movies. so i will.
hancock. AKA the annual will smith fourth of july big explosion. he mailed it in. great idea for a story. a superhero without a secret identity. i get it...he's troubled. but all the symbolism shoved in our faces throughout the film is largely left blowing in the wind. i need more back story. more front story. more side story. not just a couple days quickly flashing by almost becoming disastrous because of a lame criminal with a hook for a hand. and a crazy bank robbery. this movie could have been so much more. as usual.
wanted. AKA angelina's tattoos and bare ass. pretty decent. fight club meets sin city. james mc avoy pulled off the cubicle nerd with panic attacks quite well. great story. great effects. great potential for a sequel. this movie was better than hancock simply because i wasn't expecting much. as usual.
